It has been quite an interesting few months with Doug's health. The poor guy has had scopes of all kinds, a cat scan, and IV's galore due to a very intense pain in his left side that would not go away. Finally we got an answer and were having luck treating the problem (thank God). Just when things start to settle down he notices a pain in his nostril and thinks its just a pimple in his nose or something. We hoped it would just go away like those little annoyances always do! Well, the pain got worse and worse and by Friday morning of that week his nose was starting to swell and was getting too painful to deal with. So, he went to an immediate med center and a DR. perscribed him some antibiotics to kill whatever infection was brewing. We decided to take it easy that weekend insted of going to Chicago to see our great friend's new baby. We were super bummed, but it was a very good thing we stayed home. By Sat morning his nose was double the size it is normally and his eye was starting to swell also. You could see the infection in his nose so we tried to drain it, but had no real success with that. So he just took it easy that night and we hoped he would wake up feeling a little better on Sunday. Well, we were wrong! We woke up Sunday and his nose and eye were even worse. So we decided to make the fun trip to the ER expecting that they would maybe give him some anitbiotics through an IV to be more aggressive.
Well, about 5 min after going back to the room the Dr. informs us that he will be admitting Doug to the hospital and he would have a 2 night stay at the minimum. I immediately start bawling because I was not expecting that at all (and let's face it, I am a crazy, emotional, hormonal pregnant woman). I did not want him to stay in the hospital because that seemed way more serious than what I was prepared for!
Thankfully we have some good friends that came to see us at the hospital, and Stac is actually a nurse that works there and they helped me calm down a little! Then I talked to my mom and she reassured me that him staying at the hospital was the best for him with such a bad infection so close to his eyes, brain, etc...
So, he stayed for 2 nights and they pumped him full of meds that killed the infection! He looked so much better even the next day! By Tues his nose looked almost back to normal! I stayed with him at the hospital Monday night and was so happy to bring him home the next morning!!
All I have to say is PLEASE, let him be healthy until this baby is born (and well after) AMEN!
